π𧡠The AIDS Memorial Quilt Comes to Keene π§΅π
Keene Pride and Keene State College are honored to host a powerful display of 9 panels from the National AIDS Memorial Quilt, on view at the Carroll House (238 Main Street, Downtown Keene) from October 6β11, 10amβ6pm daily.
This exhibition coincides with National Coming Out Day (October 11th), offering our community a space for reflection, remembrance, and resilience.
β¨ About the Quilt:
The AIDS Memorial Quilt was first displayed in 1987 on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., covering a space larger than a football field. It began as a grassroots response to honor loved ones lost to HIV/AIDS when their lives were too often erased or ignored. Today, it remains the largest community art project in the world, with nearly 50,000 panels memorializing more than 110,000 individuals. Each stitch is a reminder of lives lived, love shared, and a call for continued action.
We invite you to experience this moving piece of history, reflect on its legacy, and stand together in solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community and all those affected by HIV/AIDS.
